Why FerrTrack

You already know Jira is the problem.

Issue trackers don’t fail because they lack features. They fail because every feature is a tax on the engineers using them every day. FerrTrack is the alternative we wished existed.

№ 01 — Speed

Concrete numbers, not adjectives.

MetricFerrTrackLinearJira Cloud
First contentful paint180 ms720 ms2.4 s
Open issue detail40 ms180 ms650 ms
Search results60 ms220 ms1.1 s
JS bundle (gzipped)~200 KB~1.4 MB~6 MB
Cold-cache app load850 ms2.1 s6.3 s

Measured 2026-04 on a project with 1.2k open issues over a 200 Mbps connection from Paris. Both competitors warmed-up (second visit, persisted session). Methodology in the docs.

№ 02 — Keyboard

Built for hands that already live on a keyboard.

Every meaningful action has a one-key shortcut. Filing, assigning, transitioning, linking — all reachable without leaving the home row. Cmd+K is a real palette, not a search box. The whole inbox is navigable with J / K and arrow keys, the way you already drive your editor.

  1. CC — file an issue
  2. AA — pick an assignee
  3. S TS then T — move to triage
  4. LL — paste a PR URL, two-way link appears on save

A full file → triage → link sequence, mouse never touched.

№ 03 — Git-aware

Issues that follow your commits.

Mention an issue ref in a commit message, branch name, or PR title and FerrTrack picks it up. The PR card renders inside the issue view in real time — status, reviewer, last update, no refresh needed. Closing a PR with the right keyword flips the issue to closed and stamps the resolving commit.

PR #482 · open · @lucas

feat(search): trim trailing whitespace in cache key

commit a3f2c1 · feat/search-cache

updated 18s ago

Webhook lands, the card updates in under 2 seconds.

№ 04 — Honest limits

What FerrTrack does not (yet) do.

We’d rather lose a deal than ship a checkbox we can’t back. If you need any of the below right now, stay on your current tool until we close the gap.

  • No epics, sub-tasks, swimlanes, or story points. Status + kind + labels covers the same intent without the ceremony.
  • No custom workflow builder. The four built-in statuses are not configurable yet.
  • Cycles exist (two-week, board-attached) but there’s no burndown chart or velocity tracking.
  • OIDC SSO ships at GA; SAML lands in the Business tier in Q4 2026.
  • Manual CSV import works; one-shot Jira / Linear migration ships before public launch.
